Milton Criminal Lawyer
Have you been arrested and need a criminal trial lawyer to represent you in Milton?
Experience in criminal law matters!
Criminal trial lawyer Maureen Currie has represented individuals since 1988 charged with criminal offences.
She is known for her close personal attention, experience and commitment in providing a thorough criminal defence for accused persons who require a criminal lawyer, whether it is:
- getting you released on bail
- working behind the scenes to persuade the prosecution to withdraw its case,
- getting the best results possible on a guilty plea or
- representing you on a criminal trial
Pleading guilty to a criminal charge without first discussing the matter with a criminal lawyer is unwise. A criminal record can have serious ramifications on your future! Criminal charges can prevent you from travelling. Being found guilty to a criminal offence can also have a detrimental effect on your employment or future career.
As we move forward in your defence, Ms. Currie will be able to help you decide whether it would be in your best interests to proceed to trial or to attempt to resolve the charge by one of the methods to avoid a criminal record » While a successful criminal defence involves careful preparation and research, many cases can often be quickly resolved behind the scenes by negotiation, to address criminal charges as simply and inexpensively as possible. Ms. Currie is a former prosecutor who knows the ins and outs of the criminal courts. She may be able to assist you in resolving your charge without a trial.
In the appropriate circumstances, we are often successful in resolving criminal charges without leaving you with a criminal record.
Maureen Currie was chosen by the Court of Appeal Judge – the Honourable Mr. Justice Fred Kaufman to be his Associate Counsel for the Inquiry into the Guy Paul Morin – which analysed how an innocent man was wrongly convicted of the rape and murder of a young girl - Christine Jessop. This Inquiry uncovered evidence of police and prosecutorial misconduct, and of misrepresentation of forensic evidence by the Ontario Centre of Forensic Sciences. As a result of this Inquiry considerable changes were made to criminal law, the admissibility of evidence in criminal prosecutions and other issues to safeguard the system against finding an innocent person guilty. Obtain a defence counsel with knowledge and experience in criminal law. Your choice of a criminal lawyer can make a difference!

Don’t leave the important step of a bail hearing for yourself or a family member in the hands of an inexperienced lawyer. It is important to retain an experienced criminal lawyer as soon as possible.
