Administrative Law involves appearances before Tribunals, Boards, Coroner’s Inquests, Royal Commissions. We have extensive experience in many aspects of administrative work including Coroner’s Inquests, Boards, Disciplinary Hearings and Royal Commissions. Ms. Currie’s representation has included the following:
- Chosen by the Honourable Fred Kaufman CMQC (former Chief Court of Appeal Justice) to be his associate Commission Counsel in the Royal Commission in the Proceedings involving Guy Paul Morin. This involved an exploration of how an innocent man was found guilty of the murder of Christine Jessop;
- Co-counsel on behalf of the Canadian Red Cross in the Krever Royal Commission of Inquiry into the safety of the Blood System and Aids;
- the Children’s Aid Societies; physicians;
- Group Homes;
- The families of deceased individuals to represent or defend their interests in numerous Coroner’s Inquests including that of a family following the tragic death of their daughter following a motor vehicle accident;
- Physicians in a penal settings following the death or suicides of inmates;
- a death in a youth group home;
- the death of an infant in a car seat in an unlicensed day care;
- deaths in the Don Jail;
- Individuals and companies before Tribunals
- Retained on behalf of physicians and other professionals before their disciplinary college tribunals and hearings and appeals;
- Consent and Capacity Review Board involving issues of treatment, capacity, involuntary hospitalization and the Community Treatment Legislation
